The user guide to the beamer class is available as a pdf-file. It explains how to install and use the beamer class with LyX. It is part of every release, so you will also download it when you download such a release. The layout file beamer.layout and example documents have recently been put into the LyX source code repository. They will be part of LyX from version 1.4.4 on and will not be included in future beamer packages anymore. Here is a layout for beamer article. This layout makes a continuous text from your slides and saves on the number of pages needed to be printed.
