PackageBM

The package bm.sty allows you to write bold greek letters (both upper and lower case) within LaTeX. It is part of the standard LaTeX tools bundle, i.e., it's always present.

Add the statement

to the preamble, and use inside equations the idiom

In LyX, you can use Evil Red Text (LaTeX transparency mode), or highlight the text in the math environment and type \bm, which will encapsulated the highlighted text with this command.
