This section contains tips to fix X performance issues for LyX performance under Ubuntu.

  2.   2.  Increase performance when scrolling

1.  Slowness with Compiz

I've found that using the Compiz Config Settings Manager (ccsm) to enable the "Copy To Texture" plugin can make a huge difference. If you are typing ahead of the display and using compiz, then try changing the status of this plugin.

2.  Increase performance when scrolling

If you experience a lot of lack when scrolling in LyX under Ubuntu try adding the line

\force_paint_single_char false

to your preferences file. The file is be default located in

$HOME/.lyx/preferences

This may help. Further, scrolling using the mouse wheel rather than arrow keys results in a smoother scrolling experience.
